Hyperbaric oxygen treatments are painless and non-invasive. There are no needles or pills involved. You simply rest comfortably in the chamber . You can listen to music, watch TV, or nap if you wish.
You may experience a sensation in your ears similar to flying in an airplane as the eardrums respond to changes in pressure. You will be taught several easy methods to avoid ear discomfort. Our professional staff will be monitoring you at all times, and you will be able to easily communicate with them if you have any questions or concerns.
100% cotton clothing is worn during treatment,no electronics of any description are allowed inside the chamber,watches ,cell phones ,ipods are not permitted. You will have a full orientation about what to expect during a treatment.
An initial treatment plan is based upon a professional evaluation at our center and recommended protocols established by top experts in the Hyperbaric Medicine field. Adjustments are made if required with evaluation as you continue therapy.
Some patients, such as those recovering from plastic surgery and general surgical recovery , may need only a few treatments. Stroke recovery patients, traumatic brain injury, severe infections or burn patients may need 30 or more treatments for significant and long lasting recovery. Established protocols eg Marx Protocol is followed for radiation injury patients.
Gangrene conditions and non healing wounds where there is poor circulation will be evaluated and a treatment plan will be recommended with regular evaluation based on the response to Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy.
Treatments are typically one hour or 90 mins duration.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy increases the oxygen gradient in damaged and hypoxic (oxygen starved) tissue.This enables collagen production to occur and stimulates new blood vessel production (angiogenesis) in and around the affected area. This increased oxygen under pressure improves the auto-immune response, reducing pain and swelling. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has natural anti-inflammatory properties. Dangerous bacteria such as Staph and Strep are inhibited from growing in an oxygen rich environment and can potentiate the bactericidal action of some antibiotics making them more effective.
Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy works by:

There is a law of physics which tells us that an increase in atmospheric pressure allows for more gas to be dissolved into any given liquid. This same principal applies to oxygen and plasma (the liquid component of blood). When the body is in a pressurized environment in a Hyperbaric Chamber, the 100% oxygen that you breathe becomes dissolvable in you body fluids and tissues .
Dissolved oxygen is easily moved throughout the body. Not only does this increase the amount of available oxygen to the tissues, it pushes this dissolved oxygen to reach areas of the body and brain that would normally be difficult to reach, such as areas of impaired circulation or damaged brain cells.
By increasing the oxygen gradient in an area that is injured and slow to heal ,Hyperbaric oxygen accelerates the natural healing process and provides the stimulus to the body to heal. Fibroblast and Collagen production is accelerated which are building blocks for damaged tissue/bone healing.
